TMA and upgrades to HR Access HRIS interfaces via Talend

Context

The Institut Mines-Télcom (IMT) is France’s leading public group of engineering and management, dedicated to higher education, research and innovation in diverse fields such as engineering, digital and ecology. With over 13,360 students and generating over 100 million euros in research contracts every year, the ITM plays a key role in innovation in France. To guarantee continuity of service and meet the institution’s evolving needs, the ITM chose TRIMANE to provide Third-Party Application Maintenance (TMA) of the interfaces between its HR Access Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and its entire IT system, using the Talend tool.

Challenges

The stakes of this service are decisive for the Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT). Guaranteeing continuity of service for interfaces between the HR Access Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and other IT systems enables the institution’s missions to be effectively supported and operations to run smoothly.

TRIMANE is committed to maintaining a high level of quality for developments carried out with Talend, ensuring that systems meet functional and technical requirements, and minimizing the risk of malfunctions. At the same time, technical expertise in analysis, load estimation and development planning is essential to anticipate future developments and adapt solutions to ITM’s evolving needs.

In addition, respecting deadlines for processing and resolving anomalies is essential for efficient resource management. This aspect contributes to user satisfaction and the overall efficiency of the organization. By bringing all these elements together, the ITM will be able to continue innovating while strengthening its position in the higher education sector.

Solutions & methodologies

To meet the challenges identified above, a structured project methodology was defined and implemented, built around an efficient organization of steering bodies. This structure includes a monthly TMA steering committee, as well as a weekly monitoring committee, guaranteeing optimal resource management and regular risk analysis. The use of performance indicators (KPIs) and regular reports on the status of interventions add to this approach, enabling the success of TMA to be assessed.

Application maintenance is a key element in this methodology, integrating both corrections and minor evolutions, as well as the necessary assistance and support. This ensures proactive management of updates and technical malfunctions. Our teams pay particular attention to user documentation and training, ensuring optimum use of the systems and increased skills among our teams.

Functional and technical upgrades are carried out on a purchase order basis, targeting existing or new interfaces to meet the regulatory requirements imposed by the French government. Each upgrade project begins with an in-depth analysis of requirements, followed by regression testing to ensure the stability of existing functionalities.

The development of upgrades is formalized in specifications, with deployment in the acceptance environment and acceptance assistance to ensure seamless integration. At the same time, additional assistance is available to meet urgent needs, with service level agreements (SLAs) for incident response and resolution.

Interventions are focused primarily on the Information Systems Department and Human Resources, while remaining open to other departments to maximize the impact of TMA. Solutions are based on tools such as Talend ETL, Oracle database management system and Linux system, incorporating rigorous security measures to protect data and ensure interoperability with other tools used by ITM.

Benefits

Thanks to this collaboration, ITM is now in a position to :

  • Guarantee continuity of service for critical interfaces between the HRIS and other systems.
  • Enhance the quality of developments thanks to reinforced technical expertise.
  • Enhance responsiveness to new regulatory and functional requirements.
  • Optimize resource management through an efficient management structure.
  • Facilitate new flows integrations while maintaining a high level of performance.
