Context
TERACT, a significant player in the transport sector, sought to implement a Product Information Management (PIM) system capable of quickly listing products in an omnichannel, multi-brand environment. The company aimed to centralize, enrich, and efficiently distribute product information across various sales channels. Additionally, it required a solution that would facilitate the migration of interfaces from its old PIM system to the new one.
Challenges
The implementation of a multi-brand PIM system posed several challenges for TERACT. For TRIMANE, it was essential to understand TERACT’s specific needs to ensure that the new PIM system optimally addressed them. Furthermore, guaranteeing data integrity and exchange performance across multiple applications and brands was crucial, along with ensuring a seamless transition from the old system. The solution also needed to centralize product information and distribute it consistently across sales channels while accommodating the specific requirements of each retailer. Finally, developing robust and flexible inter-application interfaces was vital to facilitate data exchanges between the new PIM system and existing tools.
Solutions & methodologies
To tackle these complex challenges, a phased migration approach was adopted. Initially, connections from the old PIM system were migrated to the new IVR PIM, ensuring smooth data exchanges. Next, a detailed mapping of the various outgoing interfaces of the PIM system was conducted. The data was transformed and adapted to meet the requirements of each sales channel. Throughout the project, a team of experts in Data Preparation/ETL, Data Engineering, and Data Architecture was mobilized to provide their technical expertise.
